VIDEO: Smoking hut at Langara College a conversation catalyst

Reported by Jake Wray and Chandler Walter

The gazebo (or “The Hut” as it is called by those who use it) is a wooden structure located between the cafeteria and Building B that is designated for smokers, and it has created a sub-culture at the college.

It provides cover from the rain, and a warm, friendly atmosphere for those who seek its refuge.

Many smokers who attend the college prefer it over the other designated smoking spots on campus, and some even take the extra time to travel to the hut, rather than smoking at a closer area.

Students have found friendships and interesting conversations there, as the hut draws in students and professors from varying branches of the college, leading to a diversity of ideas.
