Welcome to the online edition of the Voice newspaper produced by Langara College journalism students in Vancouver, B.C.

The Voice covers Langara College campus news and south Vancouver community news from Granville to Knight Streets, 41st Avenue to the Fraser River.

The Voice is published as part of Langara Journalism’s multimedia production course. Production of the weekly print edition is led by Nicholas Read and website production is led by Alexandra Samur. Voice stories are published throughout the school year from September to April.

The Voice Online’s At Large section features blog posts on municipal beats including Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey, Delta and Metro Vancouver produced by Langara journalism students.

U.S. ambassador David Jacobson speaks at SFU Surrey Campus

New BUTCH images on bus shelters seek to redefine gender

A new public art exhibition in Vancouver shows women expressing themselves in a way not usually seen on advertising space – it shows women expressing their inner masculinity. The exhibition, titled BUTCH: Not like the other girls, is comprised of images taken by acclaimed Vancouver photographer SD Holman. DTES business owners and residents rally amidst anti-gentrification activism

DTES business owners and residents met last night to discuss safety measures following a recent wave of stolen sandwich boards and smashed windows. The meeting was put together by the Hastings Crossing Business Improvement Association to address the past month’s spike of anti-gentrification vandalism. Langara hosts fashion show in support of battered women

Langara College held its fourth annual charity fashion show last night, transforming the upper level of the library into a swanky boutique and runway. The event, organized by the Special Events Planning and Marketing class and the Langara Business Association (LBA), donated all proceeds to the Battered Women’s Support Services (BWSS).
